Bradley Madsen is a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science whose research centers on public opinion, political communication, and representation in American politics. His work explores how citizens update their behavior based on new political and economic information, as well as how changes in traditional news media institutions impact democratic accountability. His dissertation, Puzzles of Democratic Accountability in the U.S. House of Representatives, examines how competing electoral forces and the richness of local news shape the alignment between representatives’ roll‐call voting records and the policy preferences of their constituencies. He has extensive experience with statistical programming in R, web scraping, and integrating large and complex datasets, including spatial and administrative data. Prior to beginning his Ph.D., Bradley earned his M.A. in Communication from Central Michigan University.
