Statement of purpose:
The statement of purpose should be used to highlight your background, skills, and interests. It should also provide the committee with a sense of who you are, your future goals, and research interests.
In 750 words, please explain the following:
- What are your personal and professional goals for a career in National Security and Intelligence?
- How will obtaining an NSI degree from the Bush School DC help you to achieve your goals?
Professional resume:
Resumes should reflect your professional experience. Please include any relevant unpaid experiences including internships and study abroad. Be sure to include any language proficiencies and level of proficiency.
Letters of recommendation:
Two recommendations are required to apply to the Master of National Security and Intelligence. Recommendation letters must be from someone familiar with one or more of the following:
- academic background
- leadership experience
- work experience (typically supervisors, mentors, associates, etc.).
You will be required to enter the contact information for two recommenders in the GraduateCAS portal. You will not need completed recommendation letters to submit your application.
An email request will automatically be sent to your recommender on your behalf, asking for two tasks:
- Submit a letter of recommendation (preferably written on official letterhead)
- Fill out a brief evaluation of you through the GraduateCAS Letters by Liaison Portal.
Please keep in mind:
- Advise your recommenders to look for this email in their inbox, as well as their spam or junk-mail folder, as emails are occasionally filtered out.
- You can log into GraduateCAS daily to monitor the submission of your recommendations and, as necessary, to send reminders.
GRE/GMAT
Encouraged for those who feel scores can complement a strong file or offset concerns such as a low GPA, lack of experience in the field, or if grades/experience do not reflect current abilities.
To be valid, scores must be within five years of the date the GraduateCAS application is submitted. We prefer the GRE test over GMAT.
Official scores are only needed for international applicants who wish to provide Proof of English Proficiency via their GRE/GMAT score. Official test scores should be sent directly from the Education Testing Service (ETS) to Texas A&M University and must be within five years of the date the GraduateCAS application is submitted.
(GRE Code: 6003 / GMAT Code: 7B7-K9-57)
