Dr. Dwight Roblyer, Aggie Classes of 1984 and 2009, is an instructional professor in the Department of Political Science within the Bush School of Government and Public Service. He has taught over 23,000 young Aggies during the past 12 years, working for their success here at TAMU and in their future professions and communities. As an Aggie undergrad, Dr. Roblyer was a President’s Endowed Scholar and in the Corps of Cadets. He studied physics and psychology, graduating Cum Laude and commissioning into the U.S. Air Force. He served for 26 years in various assignments, including satellite operations and politico-military wargaming. As a colonel, he returned to TAMU and earned his Ph.D. in International Relations, studying national security decision making related to military targeting and the avoidance of civilian casualties.
After his military retirement, he joined the faculty here, rediscovering his fondness for college undergraduates and his passion for teaching. Dr. Roblyer teaches courses ranging from local to world politics, but his students are always his focus--each of them an individual with infinite worth and potential. Aggie students have named him as Campus Muster Speaker and as a namesake for both Fish Camp and T-Camp. Dr. Roblyer has also received the University Distinguished Achievement Award for Teaching from the Former Student Association, the Provost’s Academic Professional Track Faculty Teaching Excellence Award, and the University Honors Director’s Award, among others. He has served on the university’s Honor Council for 9 years and is a firm believer in the power of TAMU’s core values and Code of Honor in developing leaders of character.
Dr. Roblyer is married and devoted to Dr. Kathy Roblyer. They have raised 7 children, including two Former Students, and are parenting again with two school-aged children.
