Homeland security remains a critical and vital area of public service. In this track, you will explore the theoretical underpinnings and the history of the homeland security field. You will gain insights from experts in the field and from your colleagues. You will then move beyond the foundations to the strategies, procedures, and policies that drive our nation’s homeland security efforts. You will also

  • examine the laws, policies, and regulations that define homeland security;
  • identify and describe the foreign and domestic terrorist threats to the homeland;
  • analyze the private sector responsibilities in the homeland security enterprise;
  • study and analyze the private sector efforts at business continuity;
  • examine and understand the 16 Critical Infrastructure Sectors and how they are protected;
  • synthesize and analyze the border security policy and operations inherent to the homeland security mission;
  • synthesize and analyze the maritime security policy and operations inherent to the homeland security mission; and
  • propose viable solutions to homeland security challenges in various areas, such as cybersecurity, domestic and international terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, bioterrorism, and critical infrastructure protection.
