MIA Admitted Student Day

Graduate school is an investment in your future. Picking the right school is the foundation of that choice. For this reason, the Bush School is hosting an Admitted Student Day on Friday, February 27, 2026 (with optional activities on Saturday, February 28) for prospective students who are offered fall 2026 admission into the Master of International Affairs (MIA). While you can acquaint yourself with all that we offer online, it’s not the same as a personal welcome and visit. We encourage admitted student attendance if possible (and we’ll reimburse part of your expenses).

Year after year, students tell us that their campus visit is what sealed the deal in accepting their admissions offer. Whether it was the enthusiasm of their future classmates or passion of our faculty, they felt deeply that this is the place that would support and expand their educational and career goals. So, save the date! Don’t miss this opportunity to feel the sense of community our school and university provide and to interact with our faculty, alumni, students, and staff to learn about the many resources and opportunities we offer.

Admitted Student Day – 2026

Friday, February 27, 2026

Optional Saturday activities for morning to early afternoon on Feb. 28

Tentative Agenda of Events:

  • Meet with other candidates and future classmates
  • Tour the Bush School campus
  • Connect with future professors face-to-face during small group discussions
  • Ask former and current students questions via Q&A panel discussions
  • Discover the services offered by our Student Support and Career Services staff
  • Learn how to get involved with our student organizations

Attendees
Who can attend Admitted Student Day? When are invitations sent?

Those who are offered admission in Round One or Two of our deadlines will receive an invitation to attend Admitted Student Day with their admissions offer, with a request to RSVP. Round One admissions decisions are scheduled to be sent in early February and Round Two sent in mid-February.

Prospective students offered admission in Round Three can request an individual visit at a later time and as time allows. If you anticipate wanting to visit the Bush School to help make your decision, make every effort to apply by the Round One or Round Two admissions deadline. Visit the MIA Admissions page for deadlines.

Cost
What is the cost of attending Admitted Student Day?

While candidates are responsible for their own lodging and travel expenses, we reimburse between 25-40% of travel expenses incurred for those who travel over 80 miles roundtrip (receipts are required; ~$300 reimbursement max). We provide some host hotels with locked-in rates and at least one hotel-school shuttle arrangement, as well as logistical suggestions.

Lunch and dinner is provided on Friday, with an additional lunch provided on our optional Saturday events. Meals at your hotel or during travel are NOT reimbursed.

Attire
How should I dress?

Dress to impress! Dress is business professional but be comfortable in what you wear all day.

Agenda
When will I receive the agenda?

An agenda will be sent to all invitees who have RSVP’d to attend Admitted Student Day about a week or two before the event.  We expect a start time of approximately 11 AM (Central Time) on Friday and wrap up by 7 PM. We will then offer some optional Saturday activities that integrate some Texas A&M interactions from roughly 10-2 PM for those who choose to attend.

Faculty Interactions
Who are the faculty members I will interact with at Admitted Student Day?

Most of the International Affairs faculty members will be in attendance for attendees to interact with throughout the day. Additionally, attendees will receive a personalized schedule of events upon checking in on Friday. This will list the two relevant faculty they will interact with during their small group discussion time. Attendees are encouraged to review faculty bios under the MIA faculty directory.
