LTC Anthony Dennis joined the Michigan Army National Guard in 1989 as a Private with the 144th Military Police Company in Owosso, MI. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in May 1996. LTC Dennis commissioned in August 1999 from the Michigan Regional Training Institute State Officer Candidate School and was assigned as a Platoon Leader in Company E, 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment. In 2000, LTC Dennis was assigned as a Platoon Leader in Company B, 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment located in Saginaw, MI. Over the next 3 years, LTC Dennis served as Infantry Platoon Leader in Company A and B, and then as the Executive Officer in Company C, where he participated in a multinational training event in Norway and a National Training Center rotation. In November 2003, LTC Dennis assumed command of Company B, 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment and prepared the company for a 17 month deployment in 2005.
LTC Dennis served as a Company Commander until selection to the Battalion Headquarters in 2006 where he served as the S3 Air and attended Pathfinder School in Fort Benning, Georgia. In 2007 he was transferred to Joint Force Headquarters as the Mobilization Plans Officer, where he facilitated the deployment of 81 units and over 3,000 Soldiers in support of the Global War on Terrorism. In 2009, LTC Dennis transferred to the 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment, where he served in various staff assignments, including the S1, S3, S4, and Battalion Executive Officer. In 2015, LTC Dennis was selected and transferred to the 272nd Regional Support Group as the Group Operations Officer and conducted an overseas training mission partnered with Latvia at Joint Maneuver Training Center in Hohenfells, Germany. In 2017, LTC Dennis was selected to Command the First Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment until 2019 and received his follow-on and current assignment as the Deputy G3 for the Michigan Army National Guard.
LTC Dennis has deployed overseas with the 144th Military Police Company in 1990 in support of Desert Shield and Desert Storm; with Company B, 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry Regiment in 2005 to Camp Habinyah, Iraq; and with Headquarters, 1st Battalion, 125th Infantry in 2012 as the Battalion Operations Officer to Forward Operating Base Kunduz, Regional Command North, Afghanistan.
LTC Dennis is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College, Intermediate Level Education-Common Core and Advanced Operation Course. He holds numerous achievement, service, and campaign awards and badges ranging from the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster; to the highly coveted Army Service Ribbon.
