The 2023 “Built for Texas Report: Creating a More Connected & Resourced Future for our Nonprofit Sector” was recently released to explore the growth of the state’s nonprofit sector and highlight the importance of collaboration. In partnership with Texas Nonprofit Strong, Onestar, and the United Ways of Texas, Nicole Collier, Research Associate at the Center for Nonprofits & Philanthropy, conducted the research for the 2023 edition of the report. The report highlights challenges and pressing needs facing nonprofit organizations in Texas.
After the report’s release, Collier presented vital data and trends from the report to Onestar’s audience and nonprofit professionals in the state. Key findings include that the Texas nonprofit sector has grown by 22% since 2015, with more than 130,000 nonprofit organizations currently operating in Texas. However, the sector’s revenue does not match its growth, with total revenue only growing by 13% over that period.
Collier stated, “OneStar and Texas Nonprofit Strong have been great partners of the Center for Nonprofits & Philanthropy. It is always a pleasure to work with them and dive into the data. Texas’ nonprofit sector continues to grow and expand. I look forward to seeing how this initiative and the sector continues to grow and how we can support the sector.”
