At the 52nd annual ARNOVA Conference in Orlando, Florida, the Center for Nonprofits & Philanthropy(CNP) team made significant contributions to nonprofit research. Conference activities included sponsoring a poster session and table, presenting new nonprofit research, and leading section meetings.
Research Sessions
Dr. Angela Seaworth, CNP Director of Philanthropic Initiatives and Capacity Building, and her co-researchers presented Strategic or Funded? Implications of How Financial Sustainability Shapes Nonprofit Education that furthers research on the sustainability of nonprofit academic centers. Dr. Seaworth’s co-researchers are Dr. Peter Weber, Brittany Branyon, and Robert Long. From the findings, Dr. Seaworth and her co-researchers proposed a new sustainability framework for nonprofit centers.
Dr. Will Brown, CNP Director, and CNP Advisory Board member Dr. Wynn Rosser presented a paper on a framework for creating systems change. This session modified and expanded a single case study on system change to align with related ideas and concepts from literature and practice. The discussion provided insight and perspective on contemporary frameworks in systems change and the role of grant-making foundations.
Sponsored Activities
The Center team sponsored a poster session at the ARNOVA Conference to provide a platform for researchers to share their valuable insights and findings with a broader audience. By sponsoring this session, the Center aimed to facilitate valuable discussions, encourage collaborations, and inspire future research endeavors.
In addition to the poster session, CNP sponsored an exhibitor table. The table provided an opportunity for ARNOVA participants to learn more about CNP’s research endeavors, continuing education certificates, and upcoming events and programs.
Committee and Member Meetings
Dr. Kenneth Taylor, CNP Director of Outreach and Professional Development, is the outgoing chair of the ARNOVA Governance Committee. Dr. Taylor led the section business meeting, where he welcomed new board leaders and thanked outgoing section leaders by distributing section awards. Taylor also played a prominent role in the Diversity Scholars Professional Development Workshop (PDW), which focused on Teaching and Classroom Management.
Nicole Collier, MPSA, CNP Research Associate, and the Nonprofit Academic Centers Council (NACC)Executive Director, hosted the annual NACC Member Meeting at the ARNOVA conference.
