Natalia Flores, class of 2024 Master of International Affairs Candidate, discusses how she came to the Bush School on a whim and has since thoroughly enjoyed her experience and ability to create a community, establishing LATAMU and student organizations serving and recognizing Hispanic students on campus.
Tell Me About Yourself
My name is Natalia Flores and I am a first-year MIA student I am concentrating on American diplomacy and the Middle East concentrations.
What did you appreciate most about your first semester?
My first semester was chaotic. It was chaotic. I did not know what I was doing. I got used to being here and College Station pretty quickly. I really did. I found my little niche community here. I really bonded with everybody here. When I came here, I realized that there was not a student group for Latin American students. So me and a couple of other students, myself included, are Nathaniel Potts. Have your two years Vasquez and a few others. We decided to create the Latin American students at Texas A&M at the school or let them move. So we founded that organization, and we’re in the process of being formally recognized by Texas A&M.
What Would You Tell Prospective Students Wanting to Apply to The Bush School?
So to prospective students, I say if you have a dream of working in government or just overall just wanting to assist people that help people either here in the United States or abroad, please apply to the Bush school, please. Your professors are more than willing to help you achieve that goal. Your classmates are more than welcome. They’re so supportive of you. They are also willing to go above and beyond to help you and whatever issues you have, whether it be academic, personal, mental, whatever, whatever you have. So you can definitely come here. There’s a welcoming, warm community here. You will not feel alone. And I’m not going to say that. Oh, it’s easy. We know it’s not easy. Your professors will push you. They will make you look at your writing and make you feel like, no, you can’t speak the English language. And there. But they’re going to help you. You know, they’re going to they’re going to walk you through the whole process and they’ll also guide you to your dream job. You know, we have seminars every week on different employers from all over the world. And they’re more than willing to give out jobs to you in internships. All in all, a lot of opportunities here.
