- Gather Financial Documentation for Visa
The United States government requires international students to demonstrate they have sufficient funding for their first year of graduate studies to be eligible for an F-1 visa or an entire year for a J-1 visa. Start gathering the documentation you will need now. Visit the International Student & Scholar Services website for detailed information on the documentation you need.
FINANCIAL AID/FUNDING
Financial aid resources are limited for international students. We do not offer any full-ride scholarship opportunities for international students. You must have outside funding and/or financial support to afford a graduate education here at The Bush School.
We award competitive, merit-based scholarships to every MPSA and MIA admitted student who enrolls full-time. With this scholarship, international students are granted non-resident tuition waivers allowing them to pay in-state tuition rates. The scholarship amount you are awarded is determined by the competitiveness of your application with the rest of the applicant pool. Financial need is NOT a factor in awarding scholarships (or when making admissions decisions).
Many international students have earned top scholarship awards of $10,000-$15,000 per year, but most receive a scholarship between $1,000 to $5,000 per year which covers some (but not all) of tuition and required fees. This also means that living costs are the responsibility of the student to cover.
Graduate assistantships are not offered to students in their first year. You can apply for graduate assistantships in your second year.
International students seeking additional financial support can refer to the following websites for helpful guidance and opportunities:
- Texas A&M University International Student Services – Contains a list of scholarships and financial aid opportunities for international students to apply for as well as an estimated cost of attendance
- Texas A&M Scholarships & Financial Aid– Offers helpful guidance and instructions to complete the ISFAA (International Student Financial Aid Application) or eTASFA(Texas Application for State Financial Aid).
