About the Economic Statecraft Internship Program
The Economic Statecraft Internship Program is a one-semester program for talented undergraduate students with well-developed critical thinking skills and broad potential.
The internship is unpaid with the potential for an extended offer to be onboarded as a paid student research assistant upon completion of the internship. Interns are active contributors to research efforts at the Economic Statecraft Program and are exposed to topics such as globalization, supply chain security, market manipulation, China and BRI, economic responses to the Russian war in Ukraine, digital currencies, economic statecraft doctrine, and global strategic competition. As ESP Interns, students have the opportunity to attend 3-4 tailored writing workshops with the Bush School’s Writing Program where they will learn to identify and demonstrate mastery of basic writing fundamentals, apply memo-writing and policy-style report writing techniques, arrange arguments in an effective and organized manner, and learn how to proof their own work. Interns attend a series of seminar-style sessions to unpack core concepts in economics and security issues. These knowledge-oriented exercises help students cultivate a toolkit for understanding the nuances of economic statecraft and analyzing international economic issues. ESP Interns also have access to valuable career development opportunities in the form of job talks, alumni panels, and resume- and cover letter-writing workshops.
