To successfully advance national interests globally and to effectively compete with adversaries and competitors in ways that preserve American principles over the long-term, it is essential that the United States increases cooperative collaboration between its private sector, its public sector, and academia. Catalyzing such collaboration is the mission of the Economic Statecraft Conference. Further collaboration will be managed with the resources and by the talent housed within the Bush School of Government and Public Service.
On September 23, 2021, the Economic Statecraft Program at the Bush School DC will host its inaugural conference in conjunction with the grand opening of the DC teaching site. The morning session will consist of a panel of academics and policymakers on Chinese Economic Statecraft. The afternoon session will shift the discussion inwards to think about appropriate US policy responses. If time permits, conference attendees will have the opportunity to discuss their areas of interest more intimately in breakout sessions.
The Conference will allow leading academics in the fields of economics and security to interact with relevant stakeholders in the private sector while also addressing the needs of government. The discussions are designed to advance the state of the art understanding of economic tools of national power by facilitating effective policymaking and coordination.
Information regarding keynote speakers, panelists, and the conference agenda will be released in the coming months.
