LTC Brian H. Pfarr has been a Minnesota National Guard Member for more than 27 years. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Masters in Experiential Education while attending Mankato State University in Minnesota. He has also graduated from Basic and Advanced Individual Training, Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Reserve Component IFSAS Cadre Course, Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms Services and Staff School, Level II Force Protection Anti-Terrorism Course, Command and General Staff ILE Common Core, Joint Operational Fires and Effects Course, and Field Artillery Pre Command Course.
Initially assigned as the Battalion Ammunition Officer for Service Battery 1-125th FA BN in 1991, LTC Pfarr served with Batteries B and C prior to being assigned as Executive Officer in October, 1995. Two years later, he was selected to be the Battery Commander of Service Battery 1-125th FA with a follow on command at Battery B from 1999 through 2001 in Jackson, MN. He subsequently held several staff positions at the 1-125th FA, including Assistant S3, S2, S3, and Fire Support Officer with intermittent assignments at 34th DIVARTY as an Intel Officer, FAIO, and Assistant Fire Support Coordinator. From 2003 to 2004, he served a tour as the S2/S3 at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. In 2005, he moved to 1-151st FA BN as the Executive Officer in Montevideo, MN before his tour with the 34th ID in Rosemount, MN where he served as an Operations Officer, Chief of Operations, and Deputy Fire Support Coordinator. In 2008, LTC Pfarr served as an LNO with the 10th Mountain Division in preparation for the 34th ID’s upcoming deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Basra, Iraq, during which LTC Pfarr served as the Chief of Operations. From 2012 to June, 2014, he was assigned command of the 1-151st FA BN.
LTC Pfarr’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal – 2nd Award, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components overseas Training Ribbon – 2nd Award, MN Good Conduct Ribbon, MN Service Ribbon 20 year, MN State Active Duty Ribbon – 2nd Award.
In his civilian career, LTC Pfarr is the Senior Vice President for First Farmers & Merchants Bank in Le Sueur MN, where he was named the 2008 Manager of the year for the Short Companies. He is a member and Past Commander of the LeSueur American legion post #55, a member of the LeSueur VFW post # 4297, and a member of the LeSueur Lions. LTC Pfarr is active at St Annes church in LeSueur where he Lectors regularly and is a past School Board member of LeSueur-Henderson Schools ISD 2397.
LTC Pfarr and his wife, Kristan, live in Le Sueur, Minnesota with their daughter, Katherine, and son, Henry.
