Master of Public Service & Administration 5-year (3+2) Degree with the Texas A&M Departments of Political Science, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Sociology, Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences, and Rangeland, Wildlife, & Fisheries Sciences

MPSA 5-year (3+2) Degree

Overview | Timeline | Deadlines | Requirements | FAQs | Contact Us

The following dates/timeline is based upon apps submitted and completed by February 2nd. Applications submitted after this date will be reviewed within 7-10 business days of a completed application with invitations to interview (if invited) sent soon after. If you wish to attend ICW (if invited), you must submit a completed application no later than February 9, 2024, to allow us time to receive, process, and review your application and make accommodations. Interviews and final admissions decisions will then be made on a rolling basis thereafter.

  • Freshman Year through Sophomore Year
    • Undergraduate students interested or thinking about pursuing the 3+2 MPSA degree should start planning as early as possible to ensure they are on track to successfully complete the required 102 credit hours of their undergraduate degree prior to the fall semester of their senior year (when they would enter the MPSA program).

  • Mid August: Fall 2024 application opens!
    • Applicants can start filling out the application (and submit when ready).

  • August 2023 – April 15, 2024 (and maybe later): Apps Accepted
    • Applications and supporting materials are collected, processed, and evaluated for completion.Bush School Admissions Office emails applicants’ status updates on their application, including any missing items and/or when their application is complete/ready for review.
    • Applicants are responsible for monitoring the status of their recommendations to ensure all are submitted and received by the Bush School Admissions Office no later than the application deadline.

  • December 15, 2023: Priority Funding Application Deadline
Applicants are strongly advised to submit all supporting documents and their application by the priority deadline to ensure their application is complete in time to be considered for all available Bush School funding opportunities.

As the final application deadline approaches, the busier the Bush School Admissions Office gets. Applicants may experience longer response times, which can be frustrating. We value an applicant’s time and want to ensure all documents are accounted for, questions can be answered, and issues can be dealt with before the submission window closes. Aim for the priority deadline if possible.

  • April 15, 2024: Application Deadline
Applications received after the priority funding deadline, but on or before the final application deadline, will still receive a competitive Bush School Scholarship. However, we award the larger scholarships first, so once awarded, they are gone.

Applications still missing materials after the final deadline will NOT be reviewed or considered for admission. Ensure your application and all materials are submitted no later than this deadline.

  • January 13 – February 2, 2024: Apps Reviewed
    • Bush School Graduate Admissions Office pulls Texas A&M transcripts for applicants who’ve submitted an application and all required materials by the deadline.
    • All completed applications (with all required materials submitted) are reviewed by the MIA Admissions Committee.
    • Bush School Admissions Office emails all applicants with an invitation to interview or if their request for admission has been declined.

  • February 1 – 29, 2024: Interviews
    • Applicants invited to interview are encouraged to attend MPSA Interview Conference Weekend scheduled for February 16-17, 2024.
    • Alternative interviews via Zoom are scheduled during the entire month of February for those who cannot attend Interview Conference Weekend.

  • Early March 2024: Final App Review
    • Admissions and Scholarship Committees meet to make final admissions and funding decisions.

  • March 15, 2024: Decisions & Scholarship Awards Emailed
    • Applicants are notified of admissions decisions and scholarship awards via email no later than March 15. The offer letter, if admitted, will indicate the scholarship amount the Bush School has awarded the applicant.

  • March 15 – April 15, 2024: Evaluate Offer
    • Applicants weigh their offer of admission and decide to accept or decline.

  • April 15, 2023: Deadline to Accept or Decline Admissions Offers
    • Applicants accept or decline the Bush School’s offer of admission by following the instructions outlined in their offer letter no later than April 15.

We are a part of the Council of Graduate Schools’ April 15 Resolution. Applicants have until midnight April 15 to accept our financial offer. If we do not hear from the applicant in writing by that date, and we have not approved an extension in writing, then the financial offer will be rescinded at midnight. Applicants are under no obligation to accept our or any other school’s offer prior to April 15, but we would appreciate a notice as soon as an applicant has made their decision so we can redirect funds to other deserving applicants. Applicants may consider later offers of financial support from other schools, but to accept them, the applicant must first notify us and rescind their acceptance of our offer.

  • Early August 2024: Final Check for Eligibility
    • Texas A&M transcripts for applicants who’ve accepted admission into the 3+2 MPSA degree will be pulled in early August once final summer grades are posted to ensure the student has fulfilled all of their undergrad course requirements as outlined on their 3+2 MPSA Course Planner and still meets the minimum GPA requirement to enter the program.

    • Those who have not fulfilled all of the undergrad requirements listed on their course planner and/or whose GPA is below the required minimum will be disenrolled from the 3+2 MPSA program.
