Public Service Leadership Program

The Public Service Leadership Program (PSLP) coordinates all leadership development activities within the Bush School including teaching, conducting leadership research and outreach activities, and producing publications on the topic of leadership. The Program is based on the belief that while education, experience, and credentials may help land a dream job or reach personal or professional goals, the qualities that move an individual to true success are often their ability to effectively influence and motivate others. Part of the Bush School's commitment to developing principled leaders for careers in government or public service includes ensuring that students learn key leadership skills through formal education and training, experiential learning, and self-study. While the PSLP can help students acquire the tools they need to continue to develop their leadership potential, it does not attempt to mold the leaders themselves. Rather, students are expected to take the knowledge, experience, and understanding of their own leadership potential and create a model of life-long learning that will support their career goals. By providing these opportunities, the Public Service Leadership Program enables students to embrace the challenges of developing their own leadership model.
