Students who complete the Certificate in Nonprofit Management will gain an understanding of the nonprofit sector, nonprofit organizational structures (i.e., legal frameworks and governance issues), and management practices appropriate to the sector (i.e., strategy, volunteer behavior, and fund raising). With this preparation students will be able to offer effective leadership in the management of nonprofit organizations. Students complete 12 credit hours of graduate-level coursework. There are two required courses: Foundations of the Nonprofit Sector and Management and Leadership of Nonprofit Organizations. Students can select from a variety of electives such as fund raising and program evaluation. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree and meet other qualifications. An applicant, once admitted, can enter the certificate program at any time. Individuals who successfully complete the program will be awarded a certificate, and it will appear on their university transcript.
