Giving to the Renovations Campaign
During the spring 2020 semester, the Allen Building underwent an extensive remodeling project on the first and second floors of the building. This project included the creation of dedicated student research space, two new large study areas, new classrooms and conference rooms, and additional office space, as well as new Bush School branding of these spaces. Murals of the school’s namesake, President George H.W. Bush, were added throughout the space that represent his life of public service.
The renovation provides students with much needed meeting and study space and also provides a new student workroom, faculty and student breakrooms, and a mail room dedicated to student use. New conference rooms provide space for meetings, study groups, and projects. The remodel also created dedicated space for all of the Bush School Centers and Institutes.

Benjamin Knox Painting: The Ride Home
Artist Benjamin Knox has created a 16-foot painting that now hangs in the atrium of the Allen Building. The composition, entitled The Ride Home, draws inspiration from a photograph taken of President Bush’s last journey home to College Station. The silver Union Pacific 4141 engine, named in reference President Bush’s position as the United States’ 41st president, pulls the train. The funeral carriage, emblazoned with the American flag, follows several cars behind. Cowboys on chestnut horses pause in a wheat field to watch the train pass, doffing their hats in respect.
