Bachelor of Arts in Public Service and Administration
The Bachelor of Arts in Public Service and Administration (BA-PSAA) is an interdisciplinary degree designed to ensure that students develop the professional skills necessary for effective leadership in the public and nonprofit sectors. Students in this degree program will gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic public and nonprofit sectors, along with the skills and expertise to drive meaningful change. The practical and impactful curriculum focuses on the management, economics, communications, and social science skills that are needed for good decision-making within the management, policy, and homeland security fields. The BA-PSAA degree should be particularly appealing to students who are interested in serving their communities (e.g., those planning to work for organizations such as the Texas Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, or the Red Cross).
Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Service and Administration will be well-prepared for a variety of careers in the public and nonprofit sectors. Bachelor of Science in Public Service and Administration
The Bachelor of Science in Public Service and Administration (BS-PSAA) is an interdisciplinary degree designed to ensure students develop the professional skills necessary for effective leadership in the public and nonprofit sectors. Students in this degree program will learn the practical skills needed to conduct policy-relevant research and effectively communicate research recommendations. Students will also gain a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic public and nonprofit sectors and learn how to participate in and contribute to the public policy process. The BS-PSAA degree should be particularly appealing to students who are interested in building better connections between science and public policy (e.g., those planning to work for organizations such as the Environmental Protection Agency, the Texas Education Agency, or the Sierra Club).
