COLLEGE STATION, TX (October 24, 2023) — The Bush School of Government and Public Service invites you to the 9th Annual Texas Symposium on Women, Peace, and Security. This year’s Symposium will focus on Emerging Insights on Women, Peace, and Security from the Asia-Pacific.
The Symposium will be held on Friday, November 10th, 2023 at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center and will feature Dr. Elise Stephenson of the Australian National University, Dr. Melissa Johnston of the University of Queensland, Dr. Sumin Lee of Texas A&M University, and Sami Jabarkhail of Texas A&M University as speakers. The event opens at 9:30 a.m. CT with remarks from event host Dr. Valerie M. Hudson, and Acting Dean of the Bush School, Dr. Frank B. Ashley III. Presentations from the speakers will occur throughout the day until a final concluding panel discussion of all participants moderated by Dr. Valerie M. Hudson of Texas A&M University. The speakers will cover issues ranging from sexual violence in East and Southeast Asia, gender roles and American intervention in Afghanistan, women in the Australian foreign policy establishment, and the relationship between brideprice and conflict in international relations.
