The Center for Nonprofits & Philanthropy’s Bush Board Fellows Program held its annual Pinning Ceremony to welcome an outstanding group of Bush School students. We are thrilled to announce that 26 dedicated Bush School students were matched with 18 amazing nonprofit partner organizations for the 2024 program year. Congratulations to the 2024 Bush Board Fellows who received their pins and will serve as non-voting members on a nonprofit board for one year.
The Bush Board Fellows Program provides students with the opportunity to complement their classroom learning by gaining firsthand experience in board governance while serving as non-voting board members at nonprofit organizations. Through the Bush Board Fellows program, students can apply what they have learned at the Bush School to impact the community positively.
We bid farewell to the remarkable 2023 cohort who worked tirelessly to support organizations such as Project Unity, Twin City Mission, the American Red Cross, and Destination Bryan by attending board meetings, engaging in discussions, and volunteering at events.
“The Bush Board Fellows Program has equipped me with tangible skills, knowledge, and experience that I will bring to my future nonprofit career upon graduation. I was partnered with Destination Bryan, a 501(c)(6) organization, and I experienced first-hand how cities invest finances, energy, and heart into hosting tourists and developing their communities. Interacting with the board every month, I discovered innovative ways to activate board members and organizational staff to achieve mission success. One practice I will take with me is the importance of including community, staff, and leadership stakeholders in board meetings, enabling the board members to make informed decisions with valuable input,” said Bush School 2nd year graduate student Joshua Carley.
We are continuously amazed by the dedication of the Bush Board Fellows and eagerly anticipate the positive change our fellows will continue to bring to the nonprofit sector.
“As an incoming Bush Board Fellow, I am excited to immerse myself in the nonprofit sector and learn more about board governance. I am confident that the skills and experience I gain by working with Destination Bryan will be invaluable to my future career,” explained Bush School 1st year graduate student Emilee Matheson.
We are so grateful for the support of our partner organizations and all they do for our exceptional Bush Board Fellows.
