The Center for Nonprofits & Philanthropy (CNP) at the Bush School of Government & Public Service recently facilitated a webinar titled Leading Successfully in Times of Change and Uncertainty to discuss essential strategies for effective leadership in times of change and crisis.
The webinar was led by CNP’s Director of Outreach and Professional Development, Dr. Kenny Taylor. Taylor discussed the different levels of leadership and stressed their importance in times of crisis. The levels of leadership begin at the individual level, leading to the team level, and then the organizational level. The webinar explained that leaders are judged on their performance during challenging periods and stressed the need to balance both team and individual leadership responsibilities.
Crisis management is about minimizing the impact of a threat by organizing, directing, and implementing actions. Additionally, in times of crisis, leaders are tasked with providing direction and guidance and solving problems to ensure the organization’s success. The webinar continued to explore ten performance expectations for leaders, including items like leader foresight, facilitating cooperation, making critical decisions, and more.
Webinar participants were encouraged to enhance their leadership skills, foster cooperation, and empower their teams to navigate uncertainties and lead with confidence in times of crisis.
