Dr. Baher’s new Worldview article in Nature Sustainability, Simplexifying Sustainability, highlights that tackling today’s complex sustainability issues needs more than bigger data and better models—it requires “simplexity,” transforming complexity into clear, actionable steps. Daher warns that advances in AI and data collection produce huge streams of information, but this can make it harder to find meaningful signals and make timely decisions. He urges scientists and policymakers to address key questions about defining sustainability, filtering useful data, and ensuring action. Daher’s call: combine empathy with those impacted, diverse stakeholder perspectives, and practical tools to turn knowledge into real-world change
