On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, Dr. Matthew G. Springer will present “Under Pr-ESSER: Revealed Preferences and Spending Patterns in Response to the Pandemic” as part of the Education Policy Workshop series hosted by the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.
Springer is a managing partner at Basis Policy Research, an applied research firm he helped found in 2009. Prior to returning to Basis this spring, he spent over 20 years in academia, first as a public policy and education professor at Vanderbilt University and then as the Robena and Walter E. Hussman Jr. Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The foundation of Springer’s research is discovering meaningful and impactful ways to inform policymaking by conducting large-scale studies and transforming findings into usable information to improve policy and practice. His research and technical assistance efforts have been supported by more than $60 million in extramural funding. Dr. Springer also consults widely with elected leaders, government agencies, and international organizations, including the U.S. Department of Education, the U.S. Government Accountability Office, the National Governor’s Association, the American Federation of Teachers, the Government of the United Kingdom, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
The event will be held at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., with a reception immediately after the program. For registration or additional information, visit the Mosbacher Institute’s website at bush.tamu.edu/mosbacher.
The Mosbacher Institute’s Education Policy Workshops feature noted academics who are invited to discuss their current research. The workshops are designed to increase understanding of the research underlying current education policy and how those policies can affect the nation’s economic future.
