In February of this year, prospective International Affairs and Public Service & Administration graduate program candidates convened in College Station, TX, for their respective Interview Conference Weekends (ICW). The two-day event commenced on Friday afternoon and concluded on Saturday night. The ICW for potential Public Service & Administration candidates occurred on February 16-17, while International Affairs candidates attended on February 23-24. The schedules mirrored each other but were tailored to the specific requirements of their respective graduate programs.
On Friday afternoon, students had the opportunity to tour the Allen Building before gathering at the Presidential Conference Center to inaugurate the ICW. Interim Dean Frank Ashley and department heads extended a warm welcome to potential candidates, providing an insightful overview of the programs. Subsequently, candidates explored career service opportunities, engaged in a Q&A faculty panel to gain insights into their upcoming coursework, and later proceeded to a networking dinner with fellow candidates.
Saturday morning kicked off an engaging agenda. Candidates convened for breakfast and were organized into groups for faculty interviews, alumni panel discussions, student panels, leadership/writing overviews, and student organizations/resource introductions. Some student organizations present at ICW included Bush School Ambassadors, Bush School Student Government Association, and Public Service Organization. Attendees engaged with current students, posed questions, and acquired valuable insights into the Bush School education journey.
After a day filled with interactions between students, faculty, and alumni, prospective students reconvened at the Presidential Conference Center. Here, they learned about the diverse opportunities the Bush School offers, including centers, institutes, conferences, and special programs. The conference wrapped up with comprehensive overviews of admissions and funding, followed by a Q&A session to address any lingering questions from the attendees. Following this, candidates were dismissed for dinner, marking the end of another successful ICW.
