
Dr. Trang Hoang is an associate professor in the Department of Public Service and Administration at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. Her research interests include public pensions, government and nonprofit budgeting, financial management, human resource management, and health policy.
Dr. Hoang’s publications can be found in leading journals such as Public Administration Review, Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Public Budgeting & Finance, and Public Finance Review. She also co-authors the recent book “Managing Public Pension Plans: Decisions, Challenges, and Reforms”, which explores the complexities of public retirement systems.
Dr. Hoang earned both her MPA and PhD from the University of Texas at Dallas. She was the recipient of the 2018 NASPAA Emerging Scholar Award, the 2019 NASPAA Dissertation Award, and the 2023 Rosemary O’Leary Award for excellent scholarship on women in public administration. Her research projects have been supported by the IBM Center for the Business of Government and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
