How to Apply

Students will submit their application to the Certificate in Advanced International Affairs program through the GraduateCAS application portal.

Application breakdown:

  1. Fill out the Certificate in Advanced International Affairs (Washington, DC) application through the GraduateCAS Portal
  2. Upload supporting documents.
  3. Pay non-refundable application fee. ($89 for domestic applicants / $114 for international applicants)
  4. Submit application.

Statement of purpose:

In 500 words, please explain the following:

Please describe your field of interest and the objectives of your educational program and professional career. Be sure to include any professional, academic, or personal experience in international affairs.

Professional resume:

Resumes should reflect your professional experience. Please include any relevant unpaid experiences including internships and study abroad. Be sure to include any language proficiencies and level of proficiency.

GRE/GMAT

For students with less than a 3.0 GPA in their final 60 hours of coursework, please provide a GRE score.

You may also submit a waiver paragraph for approval. The waiver paragraph needs to include relevant information about your background, experience, or circumstances that may allow for a GRE waiver. The GRE waiver paragraph must be submitted in the GraduateCAS portal.

To be valid, scores must be within five years of the date the GraduateCAS application is submitted. We prefer the GRE test over GMAT.

Official scores are only needed for international applicants who wish to provide Proof of English Proficiency via their GRE/GMAT score. Official test scores should be sent directly from the Education Testing Service (ETS) to Texas A&M University and must be within five years of the date the GraduateCAS application is submitted.

Transcripts

Transcripts:

Official transcripts from each 4-year educational institution attended, beginning with undergraduate education.

  • You must submit transcripts from all colleges or universities attended (excluding community colleges).
  • Transcripts for study abroad programs must also be submitted.
  • At time of application, unofficial transcripts may be uploaded for initial review via GraduateCAS.
  • If admitted, you must send an official transcript in order to enroll in classes.
  • For more detailed information refer to Texas A&M’s Graduate Admissions website.

Submitting Transcripts:

  • Send electronic transcripts (preferred method) by SPEEDE, eSCRIP-SAFE, PARCHMENT and National Student Clearinghouse.
    • Please ensure you send electronic transcript to Graduate Admissions
  • Mail to Texas A&M Office of Admissions at the address below in a sealed envelope with the registrar’s signature or stamp across the seal:

  • You do not need to submit a transcript from Texas A&M University.
  • Please do not submit official transcripts to the Bush School via email or mail; we cannot process official transcripts.

International Applicants

International Transcripts:

  • If your institution does not issue a transcript in English, you must submit the native language transcript with an official English translation.
  • Translations sent directly from the institution attended or from a recognized translator are considered official. Consolidated and provisional mark-sheets are not considered official.

Proof of English Proficiency (for applicants from non-English speaking countries)

  • Texas A&M University requires that applicants from non-English speaking countries submit proof of English proficiency in one of several ways:
    • GRE: 146 verbal
    • GMAT: 22 verbal
    • TOEFL:  80 ibt/550 pbt; the Bush School prefers a 100 ibt/600 pbt
    • IELTS: 6.0 overall band; the Bush School prefers a 7.0 band
    • Complete all years of a bachelor’s degree or higher at an accredited university in the US
  • You can find further clarification, and a list of countries that are exempt from the English proficiency requirements, on Texas A&M’s International Graduate Admissions website.
  • TOEFL scores should be sent directly from the testing service to Texas A&M University (Code 6003).
  • To report IELTS scores: Texas A&M University only accepts scores submitted electronically by the IELTS Test Center. No paper Test Report Forms will be accepted. An institutional code is not required. Please contact the test center where you took the IELTS test and request that your test scores be sent electronically using the IELTS system to the address below:
