Joanna N. Lahey is a Professor at the Bush School of Government & Public Service. Dr. Lahey received her PhD in Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Economics from Pomona College in Claremont, California. Dr. Lahey is an expert on age discrimination and the relationship between age and labor market outcomes. Her work also covers the effects of fertility control access. She is the recipient of the 2006 W. E. Upjohn Dissertation award for best dissertation on an employment-related issue and is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and an Affiliated Professor at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). Dr. Lahey's work has appeared on American Public Radio's Marketplace and in USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the New York Times, and other media outlets.
