In a significant contribution to cybersecurity and public service, students of the Executive Master of Public Service and Administration degree program presented their capstone project at the Texas Military Department headquarters at Camp Mabry in Austin on Monday, November 13, 2023. Receiving the brief was Major General Thomas Suelzer, Texas Adjutant General and members of his staff. The study titled, “Texas Military Department: Large Scale Cyber Attack Readiness and Response”, marks a notable step in addressing the complex challenges of cyber threats in today’s digital era. One of the standout features of this capstone project was its comprehensive approach. The student team not only researched technical and operational aspects but also delved into political and cultural barriers, ensuring a holistic understanding of the issue. Over two semesters, the student team studied the TMD’s potential role in large-scale mobilization and conflict, benchmarking against other military and civilian entities to identify best practices in cybersecurity. Team members were: Clayton Anderson, William Dozier, Samuel Ellison, Travis Haecker, Henry Hahn, Vanessa Lewis, David Parnell, ad Brandon Richmond. Danny Davis was their instructor.
