Collaborative Degree Programs
A coordinated path to a master's and a doctorate for research careersThe Bush School's Collaborative Degree Programs pair the Master of Public Service & Administration with a doctoral degree from a partner school, for students preparing for research careers in academia, government, and beyond. Designed for those who intend to conduct research in multidisciplinary fields like health policy and education policy, these programs coordinate a professional master's with a PhD.
How it works
A Collaborative Degree Program coordinates two degrees, the MPSA from the Bush School and a doctorate from a partner school, into a single planned path. Unlike the accelerated programs, the focus here is research preparation: these programs are built for students who intend to build academic and research careers, combining the policy and management foundation of the MPSA with doctoral training in a specialized field.
Available Programs
MPSA + PhD in Health Services Research
With the School of Public Health (Health Policy and Management), for research careers in health policy and economics.
MPSA + PhD in Educational Administration
With the College of Education and Human Development, for research careers in education policy.
Eligibility & Applying
Students are admitted to both the MPSA and the partner doctoral program. Because these are research-focused doctoral paths, admission involves the requirements of both programs, detailed on the admissions pages and the partner school’s site.
