
Lt. Col. Gabriel P. Exman, Ph.D. most recently served as the Division Intelligence Officer for the 34th Infantry Division, Minnesota Army National Guard. He commissioned as a Military Intelligence Officer through the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps in 2004 and has served over 27 years in uniform. He holds a Ph.D. in Management and Public Service and a Master of Public Administration from Hamline University.
His prior assignments include Intelligence Planner and Red Team Member with the 34th Infantry Division Headquarters Battalion, Senior Intelligence Officer at Joint Force Headquarters–Minnesota, and G2 Operations Officer with the 34th Infantry Division. His active duty deployments include Assistant S-2, 2-136 Infantry Battalion, Camp Taqaddum, Iraq; S-2, 1-94 Cavalry Squadron, Camp Buehring, Kuwait; Division Intelligence Planner, 34th Infantry Division, Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; and Intelligence Directorate Executive Officer, Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, Baghdad, Iraq.
His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), the Army Commendation Medal (2nd award), the Army Achievement Medal (3rd award), the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Citation (2nd award), the Naval Unit Citation, the Combat Action Badge, the Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal with one campaign star, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device, the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (7th award), and the Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd award), among other federal and state service medals.
Lt. Col. Exman lives in Isanti, Minnesota, with his wife, Dr. Amanda Exman, where they raise horses.
