The conference, presented by The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, will promote civil discourse on global challenges
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Join scholars, students, policymakers, faith leaders and global affairs experts on Sept. 16 for “Syria at a Crossroads,” a landmark conference dedicated to exploring the complex realities shaping the region’s present and future.
This one-day event is open to the public and will take place on the Texas A&M University campus at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center. Experts will create a positive exchange of ideas on one of the most pressing humanitarian and geopolitical challenges of our time, with the goal of fostering interfaith and international dialogue, deepening understanding, and encouraging collaborative approaches to peacebuilding and policy solutions.
“Syria has always been an important crossroads, particularly for religious communities, in one of the most complex and challenging regions in the world,” said Ambassador (ret.) John Hennessey-Niland, the incoming director of the Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs, which is cohosting the event. Hennessey-Niland expects the Syria conference to be the first in a series of such dialogues.

The breakout sessions will provide a platform for in-depth discussion on various topics related to Syria’s ongoing conflict, refugee crisis, regional dynamics and the role of international actors. The day will culminate with a keynote session and reception highlighting Texas A&M’s commitment to civil discourse and global engagement.
