COLLEGE STATION — “Great Decisions,” a Foreign Policy Association civic engagement program, is coming Thursday (April 12) to the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.

The Bush School Student Government Association will launch the open-to-the-public discussion group at 5:30 p.m. in Room 2115 of the Allen Building, part of the Bush School complex.

Professors Christopher Layne and Dr. William Norris will begin the program by offering perspectives on “China’s Growing Role in East Asian Security and the U.S. Response.”

Layne, Bush School grand strategy professor and holder of the Robert M. Gates Chair in Intelligence and National Security, and Norris, Bush School assistant professor and an authority on East Asian security, will lead a dialog on the modernization of China’s military and the growth of their sphere of influence in East Asia, along with potential U.S. response to a potential air-sea battle in the South China Sea.

The “Great Decisions” series, the flagship program of the Foreign Policy Association, is the longest-running and largest grass-roots foreign policy discussion program in America.
