Last semester (fall 2023), David Winter, an Albritton Center for Grand Strategy (CGS) student affiliate, completed a Marcellus Policy Fellowship with the John Quincy Adams Society.
Over the course of several months, the Marcellus Policy fellows wrestled with ideas that can animate a prudent foreign policy. They honed their writing skills under expert guidance, crafting a detailed policy paper and a related policy memorandum and op-ed. All this strengthened their candidacy for roles in an increasingly competitive foreign policy career space.
Winter’s fellowship culminated in a policy paper titled Containment 2022: Rallying the Asia-Pacific Against Chinese Aggression. The policy paper argues that the United States needs to develop new partnerships with unconventional allies like Vietnam if it is to successfully contain a rising China.
