Texas A&M to convene leaders from Texas and Mexico for a full day of dialogue on cross-border cooperation, economic opportunity, and shared prosperity
COLLEGE STATION, TX (September 4, 2026) – As Texas and Mexico continue to deepen their economic and strategic ties, the Mosbacher Institute at Texas A&M University is bringing together leaders from across the university and from both sides of the border for a full day of conversation about what comes next for Texas-Mexico cooperation and for the prosperity of North America.
Hosted by the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy at the Bush School of Government & Public Service, “Security and Prosperity in North America: Advancing Texas-Mexico Commerce and Cooperation” will take place Tuesday, September 22, at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center at Texas A&M University. The day-long leadership forum will bring together policymakers, business leaders, academics, and other experts to tackle some of the issues shaping the region’s future, including regional security, agricultural trade, energy, infrastructure, industrial competitiveness, data centers, supply chains, and the future of the Texas-Mexico economic relationship. The forum will feature senior executives and industry leaders from both the United States and Mexico, including representatives from leading companies, financial institutions, and organizations engaged in cross-border commerce and trade policy.
The event reflects a university-wide effort, drawing on expertise from across Texas A&M, including faculty and experts from the Bush School of Government & Public Service, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Texas A&M AgriLife, and the Institute for Science, Technology and Public Policy.
At its heart, the forum is about bringing the right people to the table for real conversations about the opportunities and challenges ahead. Business leaders from Texas and Mexico will share their experiences alongside political leaders, academics, policymakers, and other business and community leaders. Together, participants will explore where the Texas-Mexico relationship is succeeding, where there is room to grow, and what practical steps can strengthen cooperation and create new opportunities for shared economic growth.
The leadership forum will conclude with a public reception at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Mosbacher Institute’s Conversations in Public Policy event at 5:45 p.m., featuring Texas Secretary of State Robert S. Howden. In a conversation moderated by Clifford Young, visiting professor of political science at the Bush School of Government & Public Service, Secretary Howden will discuss the vital role of the Texas-Mexico relationship in advancing economic opportunity and prosperity across North America. The event will be held at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center, with a livestream of the evening event available on the Bush School’s YouTube channel.
From the first session in the morning to the final conversation that evening, the event is designed to connect people, ideas, and expertise across Texas A&M and beyond. By bringing leaders from business, government, academia, and the public sector into the same room, the Mosbacher Institute hopes to spark new ideas, strengthen relationships, and help identify practical ways to move the Texas-Mexico relationship forward.
While space at the daytime forum is limited, both events are open to the public. Registration is required. For registration and additional information, visit bush.tamu.edu/events.
