Additional requirements and resources for international graduate applicantsIf you are an international applicant to a Bush School graduate program, you have a few additional requirements. This page covers proof of English proficiency, international academic records, funding, and visa information. Follow these alongside your program's standard application requirements.
Who Is an International Applicant
You are considered an international applicant if you are not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and have not applied for permanent residency. International applicants submit the items below in addition to their program’s standard application materials.
Proof of English Proficiency
Required at the time you apply, unless exemptApplicants who are citizens of non-English-speaking countries must submit proof of English proficiency when they apply, or their application will not be reviewed. Check the Texas A&M International Graduate Admissions page for the list of exempt countries. If you are not exempt, satisfy the requirement one of the ways below. If you are submitting a test, take it at least two months before your deadline, since scores can take two to six weeks to process.
TOEFL Minimum 80 iBT; Bush School prefers 100 or higher
TOEFL score of at least 80 iBT from a test within two years. Upload your score report to your application and send official scores to Texas A&M using code 6003.
IELTS Academic Minimum 6.0; Bush School prefers 7.0
IELTS Academic overall band of at least 6.0 from a test within two years. Upload your score report, and have official scores sent electronically from the test center to Texas A&M (College Station).
GRE or GMAT Verbal GRE verbal 146, or GMAT verbal 22
A GRE verbal score of at least 146, or a GMAT verbal score of at least 22, from a test within five years. Upload your report and send official scores (GRE code 6003, GMAT code 7B7-K9-57).
A U.S. Degree All four years of a bachelor’s or higher at a U.S. institution
Completing all four years of a bachelor’s degree or higher at an accredited U.S. institution satisfies the requirement; your transcript is used to verify it.
International Academic Records
Copies to apply, official records after admissionIf you earned a degree outside the United States, it must be equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree. See the Texas A&M International Graduate Admissions page for degree equivalencies.
To Apply Upload Copies Required to apply
For each four-year institution you attended outside the U.S., upload to your application a copy of your transcript (not a mark sheet) showing all courses and grades, a copy of your diploma or degree certificate if the degree has been awarded, and an English translation of both. Combine the documents for each institution into one file.
After Admission Official Records Required upon admission
If admitted, you must have your institution send official records directly to the Texas A&M Office of Graduate Admissions.

Academic Records from China Verified Records from CSSD Verification report issued in English to admissions@tamu.edu
If admitted, you must provide transcripts and degrees verified by the Center for Student Services and Development (CSSD), issued in English and sent to admissions@tamu.edu.
Texas A&M is not in the CSSD Parchment portal, so request that your verification report be sent to admissions@tamu.edu, and do not send it to Texas A&M, Corpus Christi, which is a different institution.
Funding for International Students
Funding for international students is limited, and full funding is not guaranteed. Some programs offer merit-based scholarships to admitted international students, which may include a non-resident tuition waiver. Scholarship decisions are based on the strength of your application, not on financial need.
Student Visa
If admitted, you will work with Texas A&M to obtain a student visa (F-1 or J-1), which requires documentation of the financial resources needed to cover your studies. Details and next steps come from Texas A&M’s international student services after admission.
