MIA & MIA-MPH | MIP | MPSA

Admissions Timeline for MIA and MIA-MPH

The Bush School opens its fall application cycle in early August, working a year out from enrollment. For Fall 2021 entry, the application opens Monday, August 3, 2020.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit all application materials by the priority funding deadline as outlined on the Deadlines page to ensure their application is considered for top funding awards and to ensure it is processed and reviewed in time for the MIA Interview Conference Weekend, usually held in late February. We will continue accepting applications until the final deadline.

Once the final deadline has passed, we will post if we are accepting late applications on a space-available basis. Most major financial offers are made in early March, so any late applications accepted after the final deadline are also considered on an aid-available basis.

Timeline Overview:

  • Early August – Application opens and processing begins.
  • August-January (and later) – Application materials are processed and applicants are emailed with status updates, letting them know what materials are missing or when their file is complete and ready for review. Applicants may also log into the UniCAS system to monitor the progress of their application.
  • December 15 – Priority application deadline.
  • January 15 – Final MIA application deadline.
  • January 15-30 -Completed applications (with all required materials submitted) are reviewed by the MIA Admissions Committee. Those invited for an interview are notified via email with further instructions. Those denied admission will also receive an email notification.
  • February 26-27 – MIA Interview Conference Weekend.
  • Early March – Admissions decisions and funding offers are made by both the Admissions and Scholarship Committees.
  • Mid-March – Applicants are notified of admissions decisions via email.
  • April 15 – Candidates must accept or decline their Bush School offer of admission.

Notifications

Admissions notifications are typically sent in mid-March. Applicants receive communication first from the Bush School’s Admissions Office, which will include an attached admissions letter containing the scholarship amount awarded, pertinent requirements, Bush School Orientation and class start dates, and a reply deadline. A follow-up letter will also be sent from Texas A&M’s Office of Admissions with general information. Admitted candidates have until April 15 to accept or decline their offers.

Admissions decisions are made by the MIA Admissions Committee, which consists of an admissions chair, faculty members, and admissions staff. Applications are reviewed holistically in that all parts of an applicant’s file are considered, including his/her merit, background, experiences, letters, test scores (if applicable), interviews, language ability, career fit, and more. The committee’s decision is final.

Wait List

The Bush School’s MIA Admissions Committee often places a number of qualified applicants on a wait list when we have a robust year and hit our seat limit. Students placed on the wait list are notified in mid-March via email and will be informed if and when seats become available.  Rankings within the wait list are not disclosed, and there is no guarantee that waitlisted candidates will be offered a place in the incoming class.

Application Withdrawal

Applicants are asked to email the Bush School Admissions Office if they decide to withdraw their application from consideration. Email us at bushschoolapplications@tamu.edu and then log into the UniCAS application portal to officially withdraw their application.

Admissions Timeline for MIP

The Bush School has rolling admissions for the one-year Master of International Policy (MIP). Applications for spring 2021 admission should be submitted through the ApplyTexas application. Applications for summer 2021 admission and thereafter will be submitted in the UniCAS system. The UniCAS application for summer and fall 2021 will open on Monday, August 3, 2020.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit all required application materials by the Deadlines posted to ensure their application is processed and reviewed in a timely manner. Applications will be reviewed when all application materials are received and the file is complete. Allow 7-10 business days, or more during peak times, for an application to be reviewed by faculty.

Notifications

The Bush School Admissions Office will notify applicants of missing materials and/or when the application is complete and moved forward to review. Look for emails from bushschoolapplications@tamu.edu. Applicants should also monitor the progress of their application in UniCAS.

Once a file is reviewed and a decision is made, applicants are notified via email first from the Bush School’s Admissions Office, which will include an attached admissions letter containing pertinent requirements, class start dates, and a reply deadline. A follow-up letter will also be sent from Texas A&M’s Office of Admissions with general information. Admitted candidates have a few weeks to accept or decline their offers.
