Bush School Celebrates 10th year Anniversary
On Saturday, November 10th, 2007, the George Bush School of Government and Public Service celebrated its tenth birthday with an Open House for special guests, former and current students, and other friends of the School. The School's anniversary coincided with the Grand Reopening of the Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the opening of the new Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs at the Bush School.
Among the more than 400 guests celebrating in the Allen Building were such dignitaries as President George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara, Lt. General Brent Scowcroft, Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, and a number of Bush School graduates.

Ten student-led stations were set up around the building so that guests could learn more about the School. Each station highlighted an academic or leadership development area, including the Master of Public Service Administration and Master's Program in International Affairs the Extended Education program which offers graduate certificate programs. Visitors were especially impressed with the student research presentations, the Public Service Leadership Program, internship opportunities available to students, and the student organizations such as the Student Government Association and the Public Service Organization. The Institute of Science, Technology, & Public Policy and the new Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs were also represented. Guests were able to tour the building, including classrooms and student offices to gain a fuller understanding of student life at the Bush School.
Later in the morning, guests strolled from the School to the Presidential Library where they witnessed the 41st President of the United States skydive in with the Golden Knights. Visitors also enjoyed magnificent music from the Singing Cadets and Fightin' Texas Aggie Band, along with eloquent remarks by Lt. General Brent Scowcroft and President George H.W. Bush.
