Stanford professor Dr. Susanna Loeb will speak at an Education Policy Workshop hosted by the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University.

Dr. Loeb will speak about the effects of READY4K, a text-messaging curriculum for parents of preschoolers that targets the behavioral barriers to engaged parenting. Her analyses suggest that this curriculum could be an attractive, low-cost approach to more effective parenting and improved educational experiences and outcomes for children.

Susanna Loeb specializes in education policy, particularly policies and practices that support teachers and school leaders. Her recent work focuses on information barriers to the improvement of teaching and parenting. Susanna Loeb is the Barnett Family Professor of Education at Stanford University, co-director of Policy Analysis for California Education, and a member of the National Board for Education Sciences.

“Dr. Loeb is an exceptional scholar in the field of educational policy, and we are thrilled to welcome her for this workshop,” Dr. Lori Taylor, director of the Mosbacher Institute said.

The Mosbacher Institute is housed at the Bush School of Government and Public Service and produces innovative policy research and top-quality education and training to help the decision makers of today and tomorrow. The Institute’s Education Policy Workshops feature noted academics, who are invited to discuss their current research. The workshops are designed to increase understanding of the research underlying current education policy and how those policies can affect the nation’s economic future.

The event will be held on February 15 at the George Bush Presidential Library, starting at 5:30 PM with a reception following immediately after.

It is open to the public and offered free of charge, but reservations are strongly recommended by Tuesday, February 14, 2017.
