Dr. Jessica Gottlieb Presents New Work at MIT’s Political Behavior of Development Conf.

Dr. Gottlieb was invited to present new work at MIT’s Political Behavior of Development Conference last week.  Her paper, entitled “Information, Expectations, and Voter Behavior: Evidence from a Developing Democracy,” forwards a new theory related to the informational value of fiscal policy and its effects on voter expectations and incumbent support.  It then tests implications of this theory in the context of Senegal using data collected last summer from a survey with small business owners and salaried workers in the informal and formal sectors.
