The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University has announced that as of January 1, Dr. Raymond Robertson is the new director of the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy.

Dr. Robertson joined the Bush School in 2015 as a professor in the International Affairs Department and was quickly chosen to also serve as the faculty coordinator for the Mosbacher Institute’s Program in Integration of Global Markets. He is a recognized expert on international and labor economics who holds the Helen and Roy Ryu Chair in Economics and Government. In recognition of his excellent research and scholarship, Texas A&M University named him a Presidential Impact Fellow in November, 2018.

The former director, Dr. Lori Taylor, who led the Institute from 2014 to 2018, is leaving the post in order to focus on her new role as Head of the Bush School’s Public Service and Administration Department. Dr. Taylor notes that “While I will miss being the director, I am pleased and confident that the position is being passed to very capable hands. Dr. Robertson’s expertise and interest in the economics and policy implications of international trade, labor, and global development make him an excellent choice to lead the institute.”

The Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy was founded in October 2009 upon the request of President George H.W. Bush to honor Robert A. Mosbacher Sr., who served as secretary of commerce from 1989 to 1992. The mission of the Mosbacher Institute is to produce innovative policy research and top-quality education and training to help the decision makers of today and tomorrow meet the challenges posed by a new world of global markets and increasingly diffuse political and economic power.
