Former US Ambassador to the Holy See to Speak on the Role of the Holy See in International Diplomacy

Ambassador L. Francis Rooney, former US ambassador to the Holy SeeThe Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, in collaboration with the Catholic Students Association of Texas A&M University, will welcome Ambassador L. Francis Rooney, former US ambassador to the Holy See, on November 12, 2015, at 7 p.m. at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center. The title of Ambassador Rooney’s talk is “The Role of the Holy See in the World of Diplomacy and Its Relationship with the United States.” Prior to the event, a reception will be held in the Annenberg Center lobby at 6:15 p.m.

Ambassador Rooney served as US ambassador to the Holy See from 2005 to 2008 after being appointed by President George W. Bush. He is a member of the Council of American Ambassadors and is the author of the recent book The Global Vatican, which offers insights into the Catholic Church and the importance of the ongoing relationship between the US and the Holy See. He is a graduate of Georgetown University and Georgetown University Law Center.
