A recent survey conducted by Foreign Policy magazine ranks the Master of International Affairs program at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University in the top five among international affairs programs at US public institutions and in the top twenty of US international affairs programs overall.

Noted journalist and award-winning author Anne Applebaum will address issues on Russian politics and the motivations behind them at 6 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 28) at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center on the Texas A&M University campus.

Former US government officials, including former Ambassador to Syria Ryan Crocker, have sent a letter to the White House urging President Obama to accept 100,000 Syrian refugees into the United States. Crocker, who currently serves as dean of the Bush School, says this is the worst refugee crisis since World War II and that without strong and immediate US intervention, it may get much worse.

The Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University will honor H-E-B with the 2015 McLane Leadership in Business Award. The President and COO of H-E-B, Craig L. Boyan, will receive the award on Oct. 7, and talk about H-E-B’s unique business model and investment in local communities.

The 14th anniversary of 9/11 was a fitting time for activists and scholars from across the nation to come together and discuss how the status of women affects national and global security, said Bush School of Government & Public Service Dean Ryan Crocker at a conference hosted by Texas A&M.

Bush School students Lexia Arther, Miguel Eusse, Julie Thompson, and Chloe Verschuren, with the support of their faculty advisor, Dr. Gabriela Marin Thornton, have launched the Texas A&M chapter of European Horizons (EH), a national organization seeing to foster discourse in the United States on the future of Europe.

Since its founding, Bush School students, faculty and staff have had an international impact through internships, study abroad and language immersion programs, capstone projects, conferences, and other research endeavors. During the summer of 2015, Bush School students could be found in 21 countries outside the US including Argentina, Belgium, China, Costa Rica, Jordan, Morocco, and Russia.

John M. Barry, a prize-winning New York Times best-selling author, will give the keynote address at the Global Pandemic Policy Summit to be held at the Bush School.

The keynote address, presented by the Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs (SIIA) and the School of Public Health at Texas A&M, is set for 5:30 p.m. on September 16 at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center.

Dr. Gabriela Marin Thornton, an instructional associate professor of international affairs at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, has assumed the presidency of the Texas A&M Women’s Faculty Network (WFN), the campus organization committed to encouraging and promoting the professional development of women faculty.
