On Tuesday, February 9, 2016, the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University will host Bud Philbrook, co-founder and CEO of Global Volunteers, as a part of the Institute’s 2016 Bank of America Program on Volunteerism. Philbrook’s talk will be entitled “Short-term Volunteers: An Essential Resource for Long-Term Development.”

Tyson Voelkel, who assumes the presidency of the Texas A&M Foundation in January, holds a master’s degree in international affairs from the Bush School of Government and Public Service and is currently a member of the School’s advisory board. The US Army veteran and 1996 graduate of Texas A&M University will take office on January 20, 2016.

A donation of $1 million from The Starr Foundation is now providing a stable funding source for the Program in Integration of Global Markets (IGM) at the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University.

The Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University is hosting two Education Policy Workshops featuring noted academics who will discuss their current research in the field. The workshops will be held on February 1 and February 23, 2016, in the Bush Presidential Library Orientation Theater from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., with a reception to follow.

With tensions growing between the US and Russia, diplomatic talks between the two countries’ leaders are often strained. But that has not stopped students from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M and students from the Russian Diplomatic Academy from engaging in constructive discussions during a teleconference session each year.

The issue of diversity in society—and in academia in particular—is an important issue for students, faculty, and staff throughout the University. As future leaders, the Bush School’s SGA Diversity Committee has addressed the topic by hosting events representing a range of diversity-related topics, enabling students, faculty, and staff to participate in lectures and social activities that highlight the importance of having a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

Morten Wendelbo, a student at the Bush School of Government of Public Service, Texas A&M University, has been appointed to lead a multi-agency project on natural disaster response and resilience through the European Institute for Asian Studies (EIAS) in Brussels, Belgium.
