On August 10, faculty and staff at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University, gathered at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center to recognize Dean Ryan Crocker and longtime faculty member and administrator Arnold Vedlitz.

In the wake of the Brexit vote, it has become clear citizens of the UK have grown very alarmed about the influx of migrants to their country—sentiments that have only become more acute across Europe after the recent terrorist attacks in Brussels, Paris, and Istanbul.

With financial support from the dean’s office, the Department of International Affairs, the Department of Public Service and Administration, and the Mosbacher and Scowcroft Institutes, Bush School students are expanding their classroom experience by serving as interns and immersing themselves in foreign languages this summer.

Dr. Kent E. Portney, professor at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University, has been appointed director of the Institute for Science, Technology, and Public Policy at the Bush School. A leading expert on environmental policy, urban sustainability, and policy analysis, Portney will oversee the Institute’s efforts to examine public policy issues and communicate research-based knowledge to the public and decision makers.

The first class of students enrolled in the Bush School’s newly launched Executive Master of Public Service and Administration program (EMPSA) recently began classes.

A new scholarship honoring Bush School Dean Ryan Crocker has been established to lessen the financial burden for those pursuing a career in international affairs at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University.

Earlier this summer, the Bush School chapter of the Alexander Hamilton Society (AHS) received the award for “Most Improved Chapter” in the nation for the 2015-2016 school year. The award was given at the AHS national conference in Washington, DC.

The Master of Public Service and Administration (MPSA) degree at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University, was recently named the “Best Value” in the nation by Value Colleges. The rankings were based on the average starting salary of graduates, the annual cost of attendance, and the 2016 MPA ranking from US News & World Report.
