Professor Ann Bowman received the Daniel Elazar Distinguished Scholar Award from the Federalism and Intergovernmental Relations section of the American Political Science Association (APSA) on September 2, 2016.

The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President of Texas A&M University has announced the appointment of Dr. Leonard Bright as assistant provost in the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies (OGAPS). Dr. Bright is currently assistant dean of graduate education and an associate professor at the Bush School. His new appointment is effective September 1.

On August 10, faculty and staff at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University, gathered at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center to recognize Dean Ryan Crocker and longtime faculty member and administrator Arnold Vedlitz.

Research co-authored by Dr. Raymond Robertson, professor at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University, was cited as support for a recently approved measure in India aimed at boosting the apparel industry.

James Olson, senior lecturer at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University, was featured in the premiere episode of a new CNN series, Declassified: Untold Stories of American Spies, which aired this past Sunday, June 19. Before coming to the Bush School to teach, Olson spent more than twenty-five years in the Directorate of Operations of the CIA, mostly overseas in clandestine operations.

Ryan Crocker, dean of the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University, will be the first recipient of the US Naval Academy’s Bancroft Award for Exceptional Leadership Achievement.


May 25, 2016

On May, 25, 2016, Texans for Positive Economic Policy, in collaboration with the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy, will launch TxSmartSchools.org, which empowers school districts to benchmark themselves against their peers and enables parents to assess the quality of education their children are receiving compared to its cost. The goal is to improve education by identifying Smart Schools that are both effective and efficient with their resources and then highlighting their successful practices.

Dr. Christopher Layne, University Distinguished Professor of International Affairs and Robert M. Gates Chair in National Security, has been awarded a $155,000 research grant from the Charles Koch Foundation.  The grant will enable him to go on leave during the 2016-2017 academic year, when he will work to complete his book manuscript, After the Fall:  International Politics, U.S. Grand Strategy, and the End of the Pax Americana, which is under contract with Yale University Press.

The Bush School Student Government Association (SGA), Texas A&M University, held a reception for Ryan Crocker, dean of the Bush School, and Dr. Arnold Vedlitz, executive associate dean, to honor the two men for their service to the Bush School.
