On Monday, February 1, 2016, the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University will kick off its Education Policy Workshop series with a talk by Dr. Douglas Harris, professor of economics at Tulane University.


January 22, 2016

Ryan Crocker, dean of the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, was one of several participants in a recent panel discussion on the national security challenges that will be faced by the incoming US administration.  The panel was held on January 8 in Seattle and was sponsored by the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA), of which the Bush School is a member; the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington; and the World Affairs Council.

This past fall, the Texas A&M Student Government Association (SGA) created a new position designed to improve communication between the student body at Texas A&M and the City of College Station. Wayne Beckerman, a current student at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University, now holds that position, serving as the first Student Government Association (SGA) vice president of municipal affairs.


January 15, 2016

On Tuesday, February 9, 2016, the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University will host Bud Philbrook, co-founder and CEO of Global Volunteers, as a part of the Institute’s 2016 Bank of America Program on Volunteerism. Philbrook’s talk will be entitled “Short-term Volunteers: An Essential Resource for Long-Term Development.”


January 11, 2016

Tyson Voelkel, who assumes the presidency of the Texas A&M Foundation in January, holds a master’s degree in international affairs from the Bush School of Government and Public Service and is currently a member of the School’s advisory board. The US Army veteran and 1996 graduate of Texas A&M University will take office on January 20, 2016.

While many students at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University seek to balance their academic studies with outside responsibilities, Daniel Broeckelmann, a full-time police officer with the City of Bryan, is balancing his time on the police force with his time in graduate school.

The issue of diversity in society—and in academia in particular—is an important issue for students, faculty, and staff throughout the University. As future leaders, the Bush School’s SGA Diversity Committee has addressed the topic by hosting events representing a range of diversity-related topics, enabling students, faculty, and staff to participate in lectures and social activities that highlight the importance of having a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
