Renowned economist Dr. Anne Krueger, on February 13, will discuss the economic impact of tariffs and NAFTA at the Bush School of Government and Public Service. Mosbacher Director Raymond Robertson will lead a discussion about these topics with Krueger following her remarks.

Bush School Professor Ann O’M. Bowman’s capstone group will work in the Texas Legislature throughout the spring semester. Students will research policy issues and draft and analyze bills to assist legislators serving the people of Texas.

Dr. Ashley is the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Senior Professor at the Bush School of Government and Public Service. He teaches students about diversity in nonprofit organizations and the importance of the role diversity has in the nonprofit world.

Dr. Raymond Robertson has assumed the Mosbacher Director position at the Bush School of Government and Public Service. Robertson will help the institute produce innovative policy research and education and training to decision makers.

A new study, conducted by Kalena E. Cortes, an associate professor of public policy at Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government and Public Service, and Jane Arnold Lincove, an associate professor of public policy at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, found that low-income, highly qualified students are more likely to choose selective universities that match their academic profiles when they know state automatic admissions policies guarantee their admission.

It has been a bumpy year for trade policy. In addition to a number of new tariffs and counter-tariffs, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is being renegotiated. The resulting United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) has made it through its first set of challenges, but whether it will survive the year to come is anything but certain.

Bush School Dean Mark Welsh announced that Christi Voelkel has joined the Bush School staff as Assistant Dean for Strategic and Developmental Planning. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Voelkel also holds a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and has more than eighteen years’ experience in marketing and communications, including advocacy, public and media relations, strategic planning, and community and development relations in both the public and nonprofit sectors.
