Kenneth J. Meier is Distinguished Professor of Public Administration in the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. He also directs the Project for Equity, Representation and Governance, the Texas Educational Excellence Project, and the Carlos Cantu Hispanic Education and Opportunity Endowment. He holds a joint appointment as a professor of public management at the Cardiff University School of Business (Wales). A member of the National Academy of Public Administration and a Fellow of the Danish Centre for Social Research, Meier has published widely on topics of race, politics, public management, and public policy.

Professor Meier has been a Big XII Faculty Fellow (University of Missouri) and an Advanced Institute for Management International Fellow (UK). He served as president of the Public Management Research Association, the Midwest Political Science Association, and the Southwest Political Science Association. His work has received the Clarence Kulp Award (1990), the Gustavus Myers Award (1991, 1993), the Herbert Kaufman Award (1992, 2001, 2007, 2011), the Herbert Simon Award (1999), the American Society for Public Administration/National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration Distinguished Research Award, (2003), the Joseph Wholey Award (2004), the Charles Levine Award (2005), the William and Frederick Mosher Award (2005), the John Gaus Award (2006), the Lucius Barker Award (2007), the Accenture Advances in Public Management Award (2007), the State Politics and Policy Career Achievement Award (2010), the C. Dwight Waldo Award (2010), the H. George Frederickson Award (2011), the Beryl Radin Award, the Herbert Simon Award for the best book in public administration (2011) as well as awards from the Academy of Management (2000), Public Administration Review (2001), the American Society for Public Administration (2002), Public Management Review (2011), and the Association of Former Students (2003). He has received mentoring awards from the American Political Science Association sections of Public Policy (2006), women and politics (2008), and Latino politics (2005), as well as from the Texas A&M Former Students Association (2013). He is a former editor of the American Journal of Political Science (1994-97), former editor-in-chief of the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory (2011-16), the founding editor of Perspectives of Public Management and Governance (debuting in 2018) and one of three founding editors of the Journal of Behavioral Public Administration (also debuting in 2018). A 2017 article in PS: Politics and Political Science listed him as the most productive political scientist in the world from 1990 to 2014.
