George Bush School of Government and Public Service Seeks Dean
Texas A&M University is seeking applications for Dean of the George Bush School of Government and Public Service. The Bush School has made remarkable strides toward becoming one of the leading public and international affairs graduate schools in the nation, and has had a significant impact in the public service arena through research and the development of public servants and principled leaders. The belief of George Bush, 41st President of the United States, in the nobility of public service has been the cornerstone of the school's philosophy and continues to shape all aspects of the curriculum, research, and student experience. The Master's of Public Service and Administration and the Master's in International Affairs programs are the academic foundation of the school. In addition, the school has also instituted an expanding online and extended education program that includes certificates in advanced international affairs, homeland security, and nonprofit management.
The ideal candidate will exert the visionary leadership needed to further enhance the quality of research, teaching, and engagement in the school, as well as to grow its reputation and stature nationally and internationally. In addition, the ideal candidate must also be capable of generating a sense of common purpose among faculty, staff, and students, of increasing the diversity of the faculty, staff, and student body, and of building relationships with external constituencies including donors, agencies and foundations.
The Search Advisory Committee is now accepting applications, and this national search will remain open until the position is filled. Application packets should include: a letter of interest outlining qualifications for the position, a current vita/resume, and a list of three individuals (along with contact information) who could comment knowledgeably on the candidate's qualifications. The letter should address experience, accomplishments and strengths that qualify or distinguish the candidate; leadership style; and a summary describing the candidate's commitment to research, teaching, service, and to achieving excellence in the conduct of the multiple missions of the school.
